Crown Heights-Edgemere Heights is one of Oklahoma City’s most sought-after neighborhoods, and rightfully so. Perfectly situated just north of Uptown, CH-EH is bordered on the north by NW 42nd ST, on the south by NW 36th, on the east by Harvey Parkway and on the west by Western Avenue.
The neighborhood is really two, with the dividing line being Walker Avenue. Crown Heights, with homes constructed in the 1930s, is a Historic Preservation District, and occupies the section of the neighborhood west of Walker. Edgemere Heights, with homes constructed in the late 1940s and 1950s, is not a Historic Preservation District and occupies the section of the neighborhood east of Walker.
Homes throughout the two halves range architecturally, from gracious Tudors, quaint Bungalows, majestic Colonial Style homes and a few Art Deco and Mediterranean-inspired designs to Split-Level Ranch homes, and even a few duplexes.
The neighborhood is defined in part by its beautiful green spaces (maintained and managed by neighborhood volunteers), including the medians on Shartel Ave., a gateway green space at the corner of NW 36th and Walker Ave., and Crown Heights Park, which occupies most of two city blocks.
Residents of Crown Heights-Edgemere Heights enjoy an annual slate of social events managed by the Neighborhood Association’s Board of Directors, and receive an award-winning, bi-monthly newsletter, The Chronicle.
